About

When growth stalls, I’m the executive founders bring in to get it moving.

I’ve spent 25 years helping businesses grow with a decade in the CMO seat across SaaS, healthcare, finance, education, professional services, and other complex organisations. Different industries. Same commercial patterns.

Marketing is my lens. Clarity is my craft. Growth is my outcome.

Why Velo

Built for businesses where the value is complex, but the buying decision needs to feel simple.

When customers can’t hold your expertise in their hands or test your advice, they need clarity, trust, and confidence to commit. That’s Velo’s sweet spot: making invisible value obvious and aligning the business around a clear commercial strategy.

Growing businesses often have marketers, agencies, and plenty of activity. But when customer understanding and internal teams become disconnected, revenue flatlines. They need experienced leadership at the table to make tough decisions, establish priorities, align the team, and connect marketing to commercial growth.

I’ve lived in the messy middle from the CMO seat, where product, marketing, sales, leadership, and customer experience must align before growth accelerates. I’ve rebuilt marketing organisations from scratch and inherited teams in crisis, transition, and rapid growth. My role is always the same: establish clarity, align marketing with commercial priorities, and build a growth engine leadership teams can trust. Because clarity isn’t the soft stuff. It’s the foundation of strong commercial decisions.

Clarity before campaigns, channels, and tactics.

Founders and leadership teams bring me in when:

  • Marketing is busy, but commercial impact is unclear
  • Pipeline or growth has stalled and the reason is unknown
  • Product, marketing, and sales operate in silos and blame each other
  • Customers struggle to understand why they should choose you
  • The business is preparing to reposition, expand or transform
  • An important commercial decision needs clarity, evidence, and strategic direction

Why Me

I see the whole business, not just marketing.

I see marketing as part of the entire customer experience. My fascination started with how we make decisions, what builds trust, and what gives us the confidence to choose. Curiosity led me to study organisational psychology, digital persuasion, behavioural science, and strategic communications.

After more than two decades inside complex businesses, the lessons are plenty. But two truths are universal.

Growth always starts with understanding customers better.

Then turning that insight into commercial impact.

Execution without clarity is noise and hope.

Why build websites, launch campaigns, redesign brands, hire agencies or invest in ads before understanding why customers would choose you?

Service-led businesses don’t win by shouting louder. They win by understanding what customers value and giving them confidence to choose.

That’s why every engagement starts with clarity: the problem we’re solving, the outcome we need, and what matters most. My Golden Growth Triangle brings commercial ambition, customer value, and brand strategy together to create that alignment.

Principles I Work By

A few beliefs shape how I lead.

  • Most businesses don't have a marketing problem. They have a positioning one.
  • Marketing isn't the goal. Growth is.
  • Marketing should be accountable to commercial outcomes, not activity.
  • Marketing can do anything, but not everything at the same time.
  • Brand is how the business operates, not simply how it looks.
  • Founders shouldn't be the marketing department forever.

My Philosophy

Clarity is the ultimate competitive advantage.

Growth isn’t a marketing problem to solve in isolation. It starts with knowing where the business is going, understanding what customers value, and building everything else from there.

The order matters. Welcome to the Velo Way.

1

Commercial ambition Defines where the business wants to go.

2

Customer understanding Uncovers what buyers truly value.

3

Positioning Turns those insights into a compelling reason to choose you and defines the promise you make to customers.

4

Communication Brings that promise to life with clarity and consistency.

5

Marketing strategy and leadership Sets direction, builds capability, and focuses investment where it matters most.

6

Alignment Brings together leadership, product, sales, marketing, and customer experience behind a single commercial strategy.

7

Execution Turns strategy into momentum.

8

Growth Gets easier when better commercial decisions become disciplined execution – so customers understand why you’re the obvious choice.

Why I Do The Homework

Great positioning isn’t guessed. It’s earned.

I don’t believe the best answers are sitting inside the business waiting to be uncovered in a workshop. Founders know their businesses. Customers know what they value. Competitors reveal where the market is crowded. The category shows where there’s room to move.

So I do the homework. I bring a fresh perspective, looking outside the business at customers, competitors, category dynamics and buyer behaviour, then bring those insights back inside to build a position the business can genuinely own.

Because if you already knew the answer, you probably wouldn’t need me.
